インド料理に狂う夫
夫がインドの人たちと仕事上のつきあいが多く、家にもたくさんインド人がくることは前に書いた。夫がインド料理の本を熟読し、興味津々なのを知って、人なつこいインドの人たちは帰省するたびに、スパイスだの食材だのお菓子だのをおみやげに持ってきてくれる。スパイスの香りが、もうぜ〜ンぜん違う。それも「母の秘伝のスパイスミックス」とか、「祖母の特製ガラムマサラ」な〜んてのまでお裾分けいただくので、夫のインド料理熱はさらに高まり、昨日もキャンプから戻ってすぐに「今日デビルチキン作ってもいい？」。なんだそりゃ？作ってくれるんならもちろん喜んで。よろしく〜。
南インドのチキンカレーで、唐辛子を使わず、大量のブラックペッパーを入れるのだとか。本来はイモはいれないのだけれど、新メークインを入れて作ることに。味はというと、感激するほど旨かった。ブラックペッパーは、この間のタイ旅行の時にバンコクのルアンクナロム夫妻から大量におみやげにいただいたもので、これも抜群にいい香りを放ち、料理の出来に貢献。もちろん使ったガラムマサラは「インドの祖母の味」！
ここ数カ月、日本のインド料理店では食べられないレベルのインド料理を作り続けている夫だが（インド人から『今度の持寄りではサカイさん、またインド料理頼みますよ』と声をかけられるらしい）、今回のは彼自身も認めるダントツNO.１。あまりにもおいしくて思わず３ばいもおかわりしてしまった私なのでした。
子どもたちには念のため、日本風のカレーを作っておいたのだけれど、娘は夫のカレーも問題なく食べることができ、「ダディーのおいしいよ〜」と大騒ぎ。息子にはさすがにちょっと辛かったみたいだけれど。
