新しい人よめざめよ！
２０年前に友人に紹介されて読んだ、大江健三郎の「新しい人よめざめよ！」を、娘に「読んでみたら」とすすめたら、自分がまたもや読みはじめてしまった（この友人は某有名出版社の編集者になっているや、そういえば。彼女からは「ソロモンの指輪」もすすめられて夢中になったっけ）。大江健三郎って大学時代にとくに彼の文芸評論が好きでほとんどみんな読み切ってしまったのだけれど（小説はイマイチ入りこめなかったけど）、この「新しい〜」は、とくにまた好きだった。昨日は美容院に「武士道」（新渡戸稲造著）をもってでかけたのがバカで、読んでいて涙がでてきてしまったりなんぞして、ごまかすのに苦労した。途中で号泣しそうになってこりゃやばい、と思って読むのやめたけど。４年前にカナダのビクトリアで某ホテルに泊まった時、私たちが日本人だからか、NITOBE ROOMという特別室に（普通の値段で）とおしてもらって、新渡戸稲造は当時お札の人だったんだけれど、彼が実際何をした人なのかきちんと知らない自分を恥じたことがあったっけ、、、。彼はビクトリア近郊の病院で亡くなったのだと、そのホテルの人からきいたのでありました。
こうした話は食べ物とは関係ないのだけれど、こういう類いの本を読んでいると、なんだか背筋伸びちゃったりするんですよね〜。料理を作るって、最近「無駄な時間」と考えて買ってすませる、という人も多いようだけれど、「無駄な時間」って実はすごく大切なように私は思う。料理に限らず、、。何を「無駄じゃない時間」と考えて、何を「無駄な時間」と考えるかって、人によってそれぞれ違うと思うけれど、その人が過ごした「無駄な時間」の中に、その人の人生観があらわれるってこともある気がする。う〜ん、今日の私は何をいっているんだろうか。アハハ（酒を飲みながら書いているからか、、）。その時は無駄と思っても、人生の最後に、一見無駄にみえたことが、「それこそが一番貴重な時間だった」と思えることってのもあるんじゃないかなあ、と思うんだよね。
ありゃりゃ、しらふになって読んだら、結構恥ずかしくなりそうな文章だわな、今日は。
