イヌサフランの根
少し前にテレビでイヌサフランの根っこをじゃがいもと間違えて食べて中毒、というニュースをやっていた。痛風で変形した足に似ていることから、少量が痛風治療に用いられる、とネットにある（それは、ウチの夫によいかも？）。痛風薬の成分のコルヒチンが含まれるというのだ。でも、実を２g食べると３〜６時間後に死亡ともある。え？？？
その後知ったのだが、別名コルチカム。机の上におきっぱなしでも花が咲くほど丈夫。ありゃりゃ、ウチの庭にはえているじゃないの。白と薄ピンクでとてもとてもきれいな花が咲く。この根っこがねえ。なんだか怖い話なのでした。
