World Famous
夫の家から我が家に伝わっている料理は多くあるが、そのうちのひとつがWorld Famous。夫の父が、アメリカの田舎で日本の鍋を懐かしんで自ら作ったという。名前も夫の父が銘々。鍋にゴマ油を熱し、鶏手羽先とベーコンをしっかり炒め、そこに、玉葱とにんじん、これでもか、というほどのキャベツを入れてさらに炒めたら、水を入れて、じっくり煮る。最後にスパゲッティを投入して食べるのだが、小皿に醤油＆ラー油あるいは醤油＆タバスコをつけながら食べる、というのがちょっと変わっているところ。中華食材は当時も手に入り易かったらしい。具については、夫が「これじゃなきゃWorld Famousじゃない」といって、頑固に守ってきたのだが、最近、エリンギを入れるくらいなら許してくれるようになった。鍋だけでは満足しない夫が、World Famousだけは大満足してくれるので、大助かり。
実は9月の半ばに中国からのお客がきて以来、一度キャンプに出た他は、毎週末、誰かしらお客をしていたこの１月半。お客がくれば夜中まで飲んでいるし、翌朝はそれでも娘の都合で５時半おき、なんていう日もあるし、片づけも翌朝になるし、平日の仕事もここのところかなり忙しい、というわけで、庭はあれるし、部屋はなんとなく片付いていないし、衣替えも終っていない、、というひどい状態。普段はお客話をことわることはない私も、さすがに体がボロボロ（なんでこんなになってまでお客よんでいるのかというと、やっぱり楽しいからなんだろうなあ）。「今週末だけはお客よばないで！」とずっと夫に頼んでいたのでありました。というわけで、夫が「じゃあ、今晩はWorld Famousでいいよ」となったわけ。片づけもラクチン！
